The flames of SORT AARHUS’s new collection are burning bright and the coals are hot! Whether you are layering up to stay cozy this winter, or you’re searching for the perfect travel set as you head south for the colder months, we have received a variety of incredible pieces to keep you comfy and chic all season long. The highlight of this seasons collection is a versatile French Terry fabric made from a luxe blend of cotton and modal (a fabric derived from beech tree pulp) which drapes beautifully and is soft and light to the touch. Sofie Svenninggaard of SORT AARHUS is an independent Danish designer who blends feminine forms with pragmatic cuts. Each piece is made in Portugal and combines edge, and contemporary shape into comfortable everyday wear.

Behind the Scenes: Tamaki Niime

Tamaki Niime never ceases to amaze with their craftsmanship!

This gorgeous V-neck cap sleeve dress is woven using Banshu-ori dyed wool and cotton yarn. The yarn is then threaded onto a large loom and hand woven. The waffle weave texture of the fabric is achieved using a combination of plain weave and long “warp and weft floats” (non-interlacing threads) that result in the raised square pattern. A beautiful and meticulous technique that provides added comfort and durability.

Tamaki Niime never ceases to amaze with her vibrant use of colour, pattern and form. Her design principles focus around  beauty, function, comfort and longevity. Each piece is created using a centuries old Japanese technique known as Banshu-ori.  During this process the natural yarns are dyed before they are woven which creates uniquely intricate layers of colour.
